We Are All Stardust

Original Watercolor – 2016

Porto Viejo was badly damaged in the April, 2016 earthquake. Many people lost their lives. I visited the devastated neighborhoods the week after this terrible nightmare and people were cleaning everywhere.  On one street I saw babies lined up on the sidewalks, side-by-side, cared for by the old abuelas. The parents were sweeping great clouds of dust from crumbled

homes. And as I saw the dust settle on these new little lives, I was reminded how we come from the dust and soon enough, we will all return to it.

In reality, we are all just stardust.
